We recently returned from another fabulous 7 night stay at Sandals Emerald Bay in the Exumas, Bahamas. The property was as nice (or even better) than past trips. (see archives, June 2012). They have added fire pits around the pool which are a great place to relax after dinner and listen to the saxophone player and have an after dinner drink. Another great addition, are the new cabanas located at the quiet pool. They are furnished with two lounge chairs and a small table inside with a full sized table and two chairs outside in front of the cabanas. They also have a ceiling fan which is great on those days when the breeze is non-existent (which is rare). There are quite a few interesting excursions offered at this property. In addition to the usual catarman and snorkeling cruises, there is an excursion offered where you “swim with the pigs”, which has to be experienced to be believed. This trip, we took a taxi into Georgetown and rented a 19 foot boat and explored several uninhabited islands with perfect beaches. By the way, we have NO boating experience and had no problems at all. Dropped anchor at “CHAT AND CHILL” restaurant for lunch. The only way to get there is by boat. Is was a memorable day. Not being golfers, we didn’t make use of the excellent Greg Norman golf course, but did take the golf carts and explored the course. Views are spectacular and worth seeing and we ABSOLUTELY love this resort.
